ABOUT

The Dili International Film Festival (DIFF) Association, registered in Timor-Leste as a legal entity, will be hosting the seventh edition of Dili International Film Festival from 25th of September to 12th of October 2025 in Dili, Timor-Leste.

DIFF is a celebration of creativity and different cultures coming together to be inspired, offering a window to the world for the audience in Timor-Leste and a way to improve techniques to tell their own stories to the world for young local filmmakers.

COMPETITION

At DIFF, we celebrate creativity across diverse cinematic genres. Our international competition, available through FilmFreeway, invites filmmakers from around the globe to participate. Additionally, we conduct the Annual National Short Film Competition, aimed at nurturing talents of young Timorese creatives. To complement these initiatives, we offer workshops and training sessions led by esteemed industry professionals, significantly enhancing our local creative landscape.

SCREENINGS

DIFF has established itself as a key event on the cultural calendar of Timor-Leste. Attracting both locals and international visitors, the festival presents a diverse range of films from around the globe at various venues in the capital. It seamlessly blends education and entertainment, featuring pop-up screenings at community centers and schools. To ensure accessibility, selected films are dubbed or subtitled in the local language Tetun, broadening its reach to a wider audience.
